Your Senior Portraits are the IDEAL place to express your unique style, a point of view, or even just a place to have fun and live out a fantasy. It just takes a little dreaming and scheming to make your images stand out and look AMAZING.
After we book your session date, you can begin the creative process! Here are a few steps you can use to make this process fun and easy.
1. Conceptualize an idea: Preparation and Collaboration
Collect images and ideas-Pinterest
Pinterest is a great place to start. Start a “Mood Board” to collect your visual ideas.
If the digital route is not your style, go analog and use magazine clippings, bits of fabric, ribbon, and inspiration from life. Nature, photographs, etc! Anything can be inspiration! Collect your ideas on a corkboard or glue them to a poster board.
What is your personal style? Is it edgy, vintage or whimsical?
Is there a location you love? A theme, era or story you want in your photos?
Maybe you want to feature your sister, your best friend or your other best friend?
Look at activities in your life for ideas-hobbies, sports.
Of course incorporating your graduation year is a classic!
Use Brainstorming tool like Mindmeister (www.mindmeister.com) to organize your ideas for your shoot. This is a terrific FREE tool to get collaboration from me or others you might want input from. If you book with me, I will send you a free basic map to get you started.
2. Incubation and Insight
Let the ideas simmer in your mind for a bit. Collaborate! Talk with friends, parents about your concept and get their feedback.
3. Elaboration and Illumination
Imagine how your ideas will play themselves out. Let your imagination run wild! How will you look? What props will you need? Location? Elaborate on your idea with details, storyline or point of view.
Set up a consultation with me to talk about what we need to make your ideas into reality. I can collaborate with you on your mind map and help fill in any gaps. Styling your photoshoot may take some shopping, scouting locations and item gathering as well as booking a hair and makeup artist.
5. Ready, set, STRUT!
The really fun part of this is when it all comes together to create your vision! You’re on top of your game, pampered and styled and ready to look your very best. Your photo shoot will make you feel like the star of your own editorial, fit to print in Vogue or Elle. Embrace your unique style and relax. So much fun!
Taking photos is just one of the ways I can express my creativity and appreciation for unique beauty. I am a visual person, and I truly enjoy opening my eyes and capturing life. It is all art, and I revel in its creation. This is where I post my inspirations, ideas and overall brainstorms that fuel my creativity.
